Daniel Louis White Releases Debut CD
Saxophonist/composer Daniel Louis White offers something different for listeners in the jazz community and beyond. White, a recent graduate from the University of North Texas College of Music, pursues his promising career as an artist by releasing his debut CD entitled “True Communication.”
This ambitious concept album features eight original compositions that are shaped by White's wide palate of influence. White explains: "My music is inspired by a multitude of different artists. Astor Piazzolla, Squarepusher, Wayne Shorter, and Steve Reich are some of the musicians I listened to when creating this album." White's influences are not only captured in his compositions but formed his identity as a saxophonist.
White had the opportunity to learn from world-class saxophonists very early in his career. Having studied with Dallas jazz legend Shelley Carrol, White developed an appreciation for the Texas Tenor sound evoked by the likes of Don Wilkerson and Illinois Jaquet. "While I am heavily influenced by avant-garde tenor saxophonists Wayne Shorter and Sam Rivers, there is a special place in my heart for the Texas Tenor. Texas Tenors are great story tellers and have a remarkable ability to transform common musical forms into personal canvases of expression."
"True Communication" masterfully connects the dots between a eclectic mixture of musical styles. This album's stand-out tracks, including "The Red Canopy," "Sundance Square," and "Reconciliation," highlight White's unique abilities as a saxophonist and composer. You can expect White to continue to share his love for jazz while bringing a fresh new sound to the music industry at large.
